You’re familiar with the adage about the mechanic’s car being broke down because he’s too busy fixing everybody else’s car. That in a way describes the state of my website these past six months. Ok, this past year.
Early in the Spring I picked out a new theme for vamonosmarketing.com. My good friend and web developer Steve Morse updated my WordPress site and installed the Alexx theme. He told me immediately afterward that I needed to re-make the menu and home page slider. At the time however, I had at least four different client website projects in the works. So for months the home page sat with just an animated spinning circle with on it…. nothing to display but my logo. Very impressive (sarcastically stated). Unlike the mechanic who’s car is unnoticed by his customers, my website is a very visible marketing tool. Everyone to whom I gave a business card very well could have looked up my website and left quite unimpressed with my agency and abilities.
After preying on my mind all these many months, I finally blocked out time from a crazy schedule to work on the site. The menu’s back, the home page is up with a new slider and I’m actually writing a new post. There’s still more updating to do. But it feels good to get this much done. Now I don’t have to be tentative handing my business card or make up some crazy excuse to a perspective client for not checking out my website.
Not proud to admit this but it’s pretty hard to do your own marketing when you’re busy running a business and helping others’ do their marketing. If only I didn’t need to sleep, or eat, or drive… Anyway–glad to be back! And I commit once again to remain in the game of updating both Vamonos blog and website.
