PostHeaderIcon Aqua Palace - Hot Tub Provider for Olympic Swim Trials

As good fortune would have it for good businesses, Aqua Palace Spas & Pools of Council Bluffs became the official provider of hot tubs for the Olympic Swim Trials held at the Qwest Center in Omaha June 2008. Aqua Palace brought two of their larger Marquis spas for the swimmers to relax in after practicing or performing. The tubs were set up next to the giant practice swimming pool. Part of the opportunity also provided Aqua Palace some very precious display space in a large spectator expo during the event called the “Aqua Zone”. Obviously this was a big deal–an exclusive deal–to promote!
One of the challenges we faced was the IOC commandment not to use “Olympics”, “Team USA” or “Swim Trials” in any form of advertising. That right was reserved for their major corporate sponsors. There was a special organization formed locally called H2Omaha that planned and staged the whole Olympic event coming to Omaha. And they received a lot of media attention for months. Because the hot tub arrangement was made with H2Omaha, Aqua Palace had permission to use their logo. We believed using H2Omaha would make that association of Aqua Palace to the Olympic Swim Trials.
This ad ran in the Omaha World-Herald just before and during the event. Our main goal was to promote this exclusive sponsorship. Who wouldn’t. It could be a once in an 4 year event!

PostHeaderIcon R J Nelson Heating & Air of Council Bluffs - Spring Tempstar Mailing

R J Nelson Company–a heating and air contractor–desired to target and entice homeowners in their hometown of Council Bluffs to buy a new Tempstar air conditioning system. Combining special offers from the manufacturer with their own incentives, a direct mail post card was printed and sent to every homeowner in the community. Post cards can being very effective as they instantly deliver the message without needing someone to rip open an envelope. The mailing was sent in May to get as many new installation jobs booked before the hot weather arrived.
Unfortunately, the cards were dropped in one of the most unseasonably cool weeks of May on record and the response was less than stellar. The lesson learned was chilly weather can trump even the best of hot offers. Maybe that comes off as an excuse but one wonders how well this inducement would have succeeded in more A/C conducive warmth.

PostHeaderIcon Xtreme Wheels of Council Bluffs - Code 1

Even though Xtreme Wheels bicycle shop is in a neighboring state to Offutt Air Force Base, quite a few military personnel have made their way over to shop for Trek bikes. It’s actually easier to come up from the base in Bellevue, Nebraska to shop for Trek bikes in Council Bluffs, Iowa than it is to go to the Trek store in Omaha.
So Xtreme Wheels has used the Air Pulse weekly paper (now called Base 68113) to promote their store and Trek selection. To further attract customers from the base, Xtreme Wheels offers a military discount.

PostHeaderIcon Bellevue Family Eyecare - Accepting Tricare

Being located near Offutt Air Force Base, a large prospective patient base for Bellevue Family Eyecare is military personal and their families. When opening this location, the eye doctors qualified to be accepted as providers on Tricare, the military’s health insurance plan. Of all the advertising investments made by the office, this ad placed in “Base 68113″–the official weekly paper of Offutt AFB–has produced the highest amount of new patients.
The ad is proof that simple can be effective. This was just a matter of getting out their name and Tricare acceptance in order to be on the airmen’s radar of eye care providers.

Commercial Fitness Revamped for Body Basics Web Site
The main objective for the building the new Body Basics web site last year was to better showcase their residential fitness equipment… At that time, another very important part of their business–Commercial sales–received a mere one page of text listing types of commercial fitness brands available at Body Basics. This summer we received a directive from the client to turn that page into an interesting and informative Commercial section. More... (0)

Ingenious Nike Tiger Woods Commercial
Nike just launched a new TV commercial with Tiger Woods on the screen and the voice of his late father Earl Woods. I watched it with amazement at the irony of this situation. Major advertisers like Nike once hired Tiger Woods to help build their brand. Now Tiger is being paid by Nike for a campaign that helps (re)build his brand. More... (0)

2010: Vamonos to Social Media Marketing!
Out of the daze and craze of 2009 I can say in shear exhaustion that it’s been a year of great learning and transition, including our re-focus and conversion to Vamonos Marketing. Of course, education and adaptation is a continual process; but I’ll declare on this News Years day that 2010 marks the full-scale launch of Vamonos into social media marketing. More... (0)

Cable/Satellite v. Broadcast TV Viewing. Who's winning?
A question often asked is if more people are now watching cable/satellite network programs than shows carried on the traditional over-the-air broadcast TV networks… To give an idea of how mass viewing patterns are slowly shifting towards cable/satellite network programs let’s take a look at a recent week of national TV ratings. Welcome! Why Vamonos?
Welcome to my web site! Vamonos Marketing is new. But yours truly isn’t. This agency began as Miller Marketing in 2000, when I left the thralls of corporate Radio… That’s a whole story in and of itself. There’s a good part of what I took from my Radio career that went into the vision of Vamonos Marketing. In the Radio biz you were always getting beat up by reminders of what you were not, compared to other media. More... (0)
